Curlew Breeding

Curlew Breeding - A specialized program for breeding and raising curlew birds as part of wildlife conservation efforts

About the Section

Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the curlew breeding section works on conserving this distinctive bird and its reproduction.

The curlew is a distinctive shorebird found in many regions of the world, characterized by its long curved beak and distinctive call. This bird receives special attention at H3 Falcon Reserve as part of biodiversity conservation programs.

The curlew breeding section includes specialized facilities designed to provide an environment similar to the bird's natural habitat, with water ponds and sandy areas that simulate the coastal environment. Temperature and humidity are precisely controlled to ensure optimal breeding conditions.

A team of specialized experts cares for the birds and monitors their breeding cycles, with precise scientific documentation of all stages of growth and development. A complete dietary system including small fish, crustaceans, and worms is provided to meet the birds' nutritional needs.

The program contributes to curlew conservation efforts through well-studied breeding programs and cooperation with local and international environmental institutions. The program also includes an awareness component aimed at educating the public about the importance of this bird and its conservation.
